Week in review and next weeks schedule:
In case you missed my exciting post about the La Clinica Mobile Medical Unit (MMU), It will be visiting Wishram School every third Monday, starting this coming Monday, January 20, 2025. Be sure to scroll down on this page to learn more about this incredible service being provided to the Wishram community. It's a fantastic opportunity for all!
Last week on Friday, you might have noticed all the commotion and excitement in town as our two new Modular Buildings arrived. There were some delays in arrival time as we approached the delivery date, but for the most part, the delivery went very well. Thank you so much to all the community for their continued support as we work together to make Wishram School the best school it can be.
These portables will provide 3 new much-needed classrooms as well as room for meetings and training.
Here's the plan for these new spaces:
- Special Education will occupy one modular building, offering two classrooms and two bathrooms.
- Our K/1 classroom will be in another modular, with its own bathroom for the little ones.
- The final room will be used for board meetings, staff meetings, and staff training.
Inside the main building:
- We’ll convert the current K/1 classroom back into a cafeteria, allowing our students to enjoy meals in a dedicated space. This change is especially important since our students currently eat in the gymnasium, which requires it to be transformed throughout the day.
- Our 2nd/3rd-grade class will move into the former elementary special education classroom, and their teacher will also utilize the current secondary special education room for REACH and Art supplies—plus, it has a much-needed sink for art projects!
- Finally, our 4th/5th-grade students will move into the current 2nd/3rd-grade classroom, ensuring all our elementary students are now housed on the lower floor.
We are still finalizing staffing for the upstairs classrooms and will keep you updated.

I completed our Winter School Ridership Report
I attended my Early Career Superintendent Academy Class from 9:30 to 11:30
Mr. Cameron and myself attended the Klickitat County Emergency Planning Meeting from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
We had our Program Committee Meeting right after school.
The Community Council held their monthly meeting here at the school, with representatives from the County Commissioners Office and the Public Works Department in attendance. I was truly impressed by the number of Wishram residents who came to share their thoughts and provide input on issues affecting our small community. Way to go, Wishram!

Ms. Hathaway, Mr. Cameron and I met from 9:00 to 10:00 am to get started on setting the 2025/26 school calendar.
I attended the Rural Education Center Meeting from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
I attended a Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) Compliance Zoom Training from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

Late Start Day/Professional Learning Community (PLC)
The Wishram School Staff participated in a Personal Learning Community (PLC) on student protection. Mr. Churchwell presented a valuable PowerPoint on staff responsibilities in protecting students from discrimination.
One Community Health and La Clinica were here to present to the Wishram Staff on their new Mobile Medical Unit (MMU). Starting January 20th and then every third Monday after that until further notice they will be bringing their Mobile Medical Unit to Wishram and parking at the Wishram School to provide in-town medical services to our community.
Perry Tech was on-site to meet with HS Students to tell them what types of trades they offer at their school.

Odyssey on-site cleaning up some of the areas that have been affected by the construction of the new Modular Buildings.
I will be attending a meeting with OSPI on the new High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP) requirements. from 12:30 to 1:30 pm.
